The Art
A completely novel art form born from the closed-loop cycle of The Living Workshop. Each piece is a mated pair — an oak bowl turned on the lathe, and a Reishi mushroom grown in bonsai form from the sawdust of that very bowl. The bowl and the Reishi are not separate works. They are one.
Over the course of 2.5 years, 100 Reishi Bonsai Bowls were created as this vision was iterated, refined, and brought to life. Each one is shaped by the unique conditions of its growth — light manipulation and CO₂ levels guide the Reishi into one-of-a-kind bonsai forms. No two can ever be alike. The process won't allow it.
These aren't pieces that exist just to be interesting to look at. The sale of each Reishi Bonsai Bowl directly funds the purchase of the 40-acre property and the buildout of The Living Workshop itself. The art serves the vision. The money doesn't go to a gallery or to the artist for the artist's sake — it goes into building this closed-loop system for real.
When you own a Reishi Bonsai Bowl, you own a piece of The Living Workshop. You hold proof of the cycle — wood became sawdust, sawdust became mushroom, and the sale of that union helped build a place where nothing is wasted. That's not just a story to tell when someone asks about the piece on your shelf. That's what it actually did.
